As part of Sonoma County Regional Parks’ month-long celebration of parks in April, Doran Regional Park is hosting the 4th annual ‘Castles & Kites’ on Saturday, April 26 from 11am to 4pm. This park is located south of Bodega Bay at 201 Doran Beach Road.

This free, fun-filled event will include opportunities to watch sand castle ‘experts’ at their craft. There will be plenty of room for visitors of all ages to participate in sand castle/sculpture building. Park staff will have tools and molds for children to use.

Kites will be the other big attraction at this event, and big is the word! Watch the huge kites hover over Doran Beach, while you try your hand at flying your own kite or one supplied by the two Bodega Bay-based kite vendors on site –Candy & Kites and Second Wind. There will giant kites with a different kite showcased every hour, including a Balinese Butterfly and “Air Guitar”. Stunt kite demonstrations will take place all day, along with kite making workshops for the kids and a free kite repair clinic.

This event is sponsored by the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, Candy & Kites, Second Wind, and KTAI. Parking at Doran Regional Park is $5 per car during this event.
